The only sheet in this series carrying two motifs: on the left the scarlet tulip with its deep green, yellow-tipped leaf — beside it three small hearts, one above the other. Both come about the same way, and yet differently: a drop of colour falls onto the water and settles as a circle; draw the needle down through it and the circle becomes a heart. The same movement, repeated and led outward, brings forth the tulip. Look closely and the hearts show the simplest form this art can take — and the tulip shows where it leads. A handmade one-of-a-kind piece in a simple black frame; each pattern forms only once.
