The same quiet hand as its sister sheet, told a little warmer: the bud opens in magenta with blue veins, and the left leaf runs out along its edge into a clear yellow, while violet shadows drift across both leaves. The sage-green battal ground with its cream-white veins leaves these colours all the room they need. The yellow is not painted over afterwards — the colour is laid into the pull of the needle upon the water and stays exactly where it belongs. A handmade one-of-a-kind piece in a simple black frame; each pattern forms only once.
