Two leaves rise from below and close around the blossom without touching it; the tulip itself sits at the very top, small and purple. The balance of that shape happens in a single pull: in floral ebru the colour drifts on the water and is held with a fine stylus until the paper lifts the image — carrying two leaves of this length symmetrically is the hard part. A gold line and a dark blue rule frame the field; outside lies a battal pattern in pink and turquoise, where the colour is only flicked on and taken off without further working. Made on acid-free ebru paper with natural pigments and ox gall. Please note: the gold rule around the central panel is drawn by hand once the sheet has dried — on this piece it runs slightly askew in one place. The work itself is undamaged; because of this irregularity we offer it at a lower price.
